Laborers break ground on $22 million training center on North Broad

The Laborers’ District Council and Temple University are collaborating to bring jobs to North Philadelphia.

Spirits were high as labor leaders, politicians and neighborhood partners broke ground at Broad and Thompson streets.

For North Philadelphia’s aspiring laborers, pathways to better jobs are coming closer to home—and local politicians, building trades workers and university partners are cheering the opportunity.

LDC Training and Learning Center Groundbreaking

If all goes as planned, Philadelphia’s only majority black building trades union and one of the only construction unions with a majority of members who live in the city will soon move its training operations from Exton in Chester County to North Philly.

Philadelphia Business Journal – Cool Offices: Center City commercial makeover

The Graham Co., an insurance and benefits broker, just finished a year-long makeover to several floors of its workplace.

The updated space now has fresh technology, additional conference rooms and more private working areas.

It’s training program, Graham University, which educates new hires on the ins and outs of the insurance industry, has also been improved. It’s new classrooms now have sit-to-stand desks, whiteboard walls and open spaces for collaboration.

Philadelphia Family Court Designed by Ewing Cole, is a 520,00 sf Court House located in Center City Philadelphia, which combines the existing Juvenile Courts with the Domestic Relations courts. As a certified Women Business Enterprise, Camille Peluso Architects was called upon to work in partnership with Ewing Cole to help creating the interiors for this prestigious project.

Fox School of Business

Camille Peluso, AIA served as the keynote speaker for the Temple University Fox School of Business and Management 2013 Construction Management Certificate Program Graduation Ceremony. She addressed the participants about the emerging trends in the industry and discussed her work and her experiences working as a principal of a small, women owned architectural business.
